Prime Minister and the OECD Deputy Secretary General Douglas Frantz held a meeting today. During the meeting issues, including EU-Georgian association agenda and deepening of cooperation as prescribed by the strategic documents on country development.
The conversation touched upon the projects involving OECD, including SME development strategy and custom reform. They discussed public administration and judiciary reforms, improvement of business environment, education and environmental protection. Progress achieved by the Georgia in view of economic reforms, improvement of business environment and open governance was outlined.
Side discussed successful OECD-Georgian partnership and possibilities of its deepening in various areas of the country’s economy. Importance of the interagency meeting between the Government and the OECD Delegation was emphasized and it was hoped that decisions made during the meeting will foster further deepening of relations.
“Important project has been achieved in Georgia in terms of economy and social field. This implies that Georgia has progressed in view of cooperation with SMEs. This also fosters economic benefits and provides employment opportunities by the SMEs. This promotes stability and prosperity in the country. Hence, important progress have been achieved in social area as well. Georgia has achieved greatest progress in fighting corruption, promoting improved tax administration and economic prosperity in the region. This is a very promising message and we will bring it to our organization’s head office and inform them that Georgia is our active partner and role model, and that we are ready to cooperate with Georgia, “- said Douglas Frantz.
