Today, Georgian Prime Minister held a meeting with Iratxe Garcia, Leader of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament. The conversation at the European Parliament revolved around key issues pertaining to the relations between Georgia and the EU. According to the Prime Minister, the Georgian Government is taking far-reaching steps toward the country’s European integration, successfully implementing the Association Agreement, and seeking officially to apply for full EU membership in 2024. The Head of Government thanked the European Parliament for actively supporting Georgia’s European integration, security, and sovereignty and territorial integrity. The parties also focused on the country’s ongoing political processes, emphasizing the enormous importance of the mediation process initiated by the President of the European Council, along with the need to ensure constructive dialogue as part of this process. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to EU-supported dialogue designed to deescalate the situation and channel the process into the Parliament.
