Archeological and restoration-rehabilitation works are underway at the Gori Castle, after which the paths will be arranged around the cultural heritage site, it will be loaded with historical and cognitive attractions, the museum arrangement is also planned. After the completion of the project, Gori Castle will become more important and diverse for both locals and foreign visitors.
At this stage the concept of the museum is being worked on. Shida Kartli State Representative and representatives of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation discussed the alleged specifics of the museum and its workload.
“Recently state-owned Gori fortress was handed over to Gori residents and local self-government. In parallel, rehabilitation and restoration works of the historic monument are underway. We think that we will create another new, diverse and educational place that will be equally interesting for local and foreign tourists. It has been pointed out many times that there are many important monuments or places in Gori and it is necessary to get the most out of them. Today we talked about the concept of the museum, we have some ideas and we will implement them soon taking the population’s desire into consideration “- noted Giorgi Khojevanishvili.
Gori Castle is being rehabilitated by the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.
