4 769 tests have been administered in the last 24 hours, resulting in 538 new cases of COVID-19 and 2 766 recoveries

538 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a press-briefing held today at the Government Administration. He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of December 28, 2020.

“Within the scope of intensive testing 4 769 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 1 955 were antigen-based express test method and 2 814 PCR. 538 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 222 143 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia.
2 766 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 206 313. Unfortunately, 41 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 2 418. Out of 538 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 257 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 68 – in Adjara, 55 – in Imereti, 29 – in Kvemo Kartli, 16 – in Shida Kartli, 14 – in Guria, 34 – in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 36 – in Kakheti, 19 – in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 8 – in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 2 – in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti. At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 13 386, out of which 5 624 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 2 608 are stationed in Tbilisi, 508 – in Adjara and 1 092 – in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 1 019 patients, out of which 512 are based in Tbilisi, 100 – in Adjara and 216 – in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 376 patients, out of which 206 are stationed in Tbilisi, 34 – in Adjara and 57 – in Imereti. 1 311 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 489 are based in Tbilisi, 578 – in Adjara and 94 – in Imereti. 6 451 individuals are treated at home. 427 individuals are placed in quarantine, out of which 198 are located in Tbilisi, 135- in Adjara and 13 – in Imereti. In total, 21 021 individuals have been transported from the sovereign border to quarantine spaces in the period of October 6 through December 27, 2020. At present, 35 123 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 19 102 are based in Tbilisi, 3 165 – in Adjara and 4 326 – in Imereti” announced Berdia Sichinava.
